The Goal: Physical Fitness, Is Physical Activity Enough?

We hear the term physical activity every day in social media thinking that is the same that “exercise”, the truth is that these terms are not the same

Physical activity: 
According to the American College of Sports Medicine physical activity is defined as “any bodily movement produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles that results in a substantial increase in caloric requirements over resting energy expenditure” which means that everything apart of sleeping or laying down can be considered physical activity.

Although it’s true that any physical activity is better than none, It is not always enough to improve our physical health and can be considered to a certain extent as sedentarism.

Increasing your physical activity during de day can be a very good starting point for your fitness journey, next step is to exercise.

Now that we know what physical activity is, and we have used it to start our journey. It´s time to exercise!

Exercise 

” a type of physical activity consisting of planned, structured, and repetitive bodily movements done to improve and/or maintain one or more components of physical fitness”. therefore our mindset is one of the most important factors in each fitness journey, only by working in our discipline and commitment to our body and health is when we are going to find the way to physical fitness. Push yourself a little, start with low intensity exercises and scale from there.

But what is physical fitness?
It is defined as “The ability to carry out daily task with vigor and alertness, without undue fatigue, and with ample energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits and meet unforeseen emergencies”

Isn’t this the goal we all want to reach? Spend as much time as possible with our family and love ones, with great health and fitness, allowing us to enjoy our daily life and activities?
